Care of crystal Swarovski jewellery

TAKING CARE OF YOUR SWAROVSKI CRYSTAL JEWELLERY

Congratulations on your purchase of jewellery from Lola's Gems. Taking good care of your Swarovski crystal jewellery will give you many years of pleasure from it.

Most of the crystals in our costume jewellery are made by Swarovski who produce the finest sparkling crystals in the world!

There are many factors that can cause wear and tear on your jewellery: -

  • Do not allow your jewellery to come into contact with substances that may be harmful to it. By this we mean sprays such as perfume, deodorants, hairspray, body spray or things like lotions and creams. Substances like this can discolour the metal and also will often leave a matt look on pearlescent finishes.
  • Please note that taking certain medicines and air pollution can cause a chemical reaction in the metal which is often seen in the form of oxidisation. All gold and silver plating will oxidise over time (this means the colour of the metal will appear darker as it ages).
  • Do not wear your costume or crystal jewellery whilst showering, bathing, sleeping or taking part in any sports.
  • If an item really needs to be dusted - use a lint fee cloth, a polishing cloth or a small unused paint brush to very gently clean it, or if it's just a fine layer of dust, blow the dust away with a hairdryer on a cold setting.
  • If items need to be cleaned used a barely damp cloth to avoid excess water being placed onto your jewellery which could cause damage and very gently clean. Please don't wear them whilst immersing yourself in water e.g. swimming etc.
  • Never immerse crystal or costume jewellery into water and never wear your rings whilst immersing your hands into water. This will certainly loosen the glue which holds the stones in place causing them to slacken and come out, also the water may cause the metal to discolour.
  • Please also take care when placing on, or removing rings from your fingers. Hold the ring by the metal band at each side avoiding touching any of the jewelled parts to put on and take off. Do not pull on the jewelled section as this will certainly loosen or, remove the crystals damaging your ring.
  • Always store your crystal or costume jewellery carefully, preferably in the boxes provided with your purchase
